Default How do I move Outlook 2000 contacts to Outlook 2003

Under the “Outlook Address Book” tab of the Contacts Folder Properties, “Show
this folder as an e-mail Address Book” is checked. It was checked in the
Outlook 2000 setup, and it came over to Outlook 2003 checked.

When opening the “Address Book” in the standard toolbar of Outlook 2000 the
list of e-mail addresses is displayed. When I opened this Address Book in
Outlook 2003 I got an error message stating “This address list could not be
displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not
be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions
(I’m logged in as Administrator on both machines). For information on how to
remove this folder from the Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook help.”

After clicking OK, I note that there is a feature not available in the 2000
version. There is a box labeled “Show Names from the:”. The choices are 1.
Outlook Address Book, 2. Contacts (two of them, indented slightly), and 3.
Personal address book.

If I select #1, I get a message “No entries in this address book”. If I
select #3 there is not even a message (probably because I have not generated
a Personal Address Book. If I select the first “Contacts” I get a get the
above described error message. If I select the second “Contacts”, voila,
there is my e-mail listing. I used the tools options to make sure the proper
contacts list appears when opening the tool bar address book.

Thank you for pointing me to this setup action. However, now I have a new
question. How do I get rid of the invalid Contacts option from the “Show
Names From” options. I only have one contacts folder in the Navigation Pane
folder listing. I don’t see anything in “Help” that would seem to address
this issue.

There's nothing to import. There is no data in the address book view. You
simply haven't configured your Contacts Folder to appear there. Have you
enabled your Contacts Folder as an email address book in its properties?

The left panel has a folder labled Contacts but is really more of an
address
book (first, last name; street, city, state, phone number, etc). It
includes
a field for e-mail addreses. I have successfully relocated that folder to
the new computer. Now, in the toolbar there is a phone book symble that
provides a list of e-mail addresses only. I call that the contact list.
The
"address book" contents are exactly the same on both computers but I have
no
separte list of just e-mail addresses to select from when I prepare a new
e-mail. I need to reconstruct or import that "contact list".

Clarify what you mean by "contact list"
What isn't appearing where you think it should?

I've moved all my Outlook *.spt files from a decktop using Office 2000
to
a
new notebook using Office 2003. Everything in the address book is as
it
was
on the desktop. However, when I try to send a new e-mail there is
nothing
in
the contact list that I'm used to seeing. How do I get the e-mail
addresses
shown in the address book into a new contact list?
