Can't connect to server, can't export msgs
Thank-you, Ron.
I actually didn't know how to back up my e-mail and your description was
really helpful.
Talked to my ISP again - different support person of course - and they did
some other things to the settings, including removing and re-adding my
account, which worked.
Earlier, I turned off the antivirus email scanning, as you suggested, but
that had no effect. My ISP person, however, thought it would have an effect
on outgoing mail. So I now have the email scanning of outgoing mail disabled.
And all is working fine.
Thanks again.

Are you scanning your emails for viruses?
Turn off the email scanning.
Tools, Accounts,Mail tab, highlight an account, Properties, Server tab
Are the pop and smtp server names correct?
File, Export works with Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange installed on
the same computer.
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder
location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the
location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write
the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer.
In WindowsXP, 2K & 3K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked
as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden
Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View.
Backup the files to a new folder.
Open OE, File, Import, File| Import| Messages| OE6| Message store
directory, then browse to the new folder.
