One additional thing, with the latest OE updates, when OE compacts
folders, it first copies all your DBX files to the Recycle Bin. That
can take a while depending on the number and sizes.
You might also use the Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Delete) after closing OE
to see if the MSIMN.EXE is going away or how long it takes.

Yes Michael, I closed OEX before shutting down. I make it a habit to
close all open applications as it expedites 'Turn off computer'. My
anti-virus program does not scan for incoming or outgoing Email.
I compact OEX weekly with the recommended procedure; click Outlook
Express in the Folder tree/close Outlook Express/File/Folder/Compact
Folders. When OEX comes up on the 100th closing, there is very little
to do. Thanks, This msimn.exe process delay is recent, possibly since
an ms update?
