I've tried all of the suggested activities. None worked.
The error message is the clue. The version numbers for Outlook and Word are
different. I don't know how to get Outlook up to the same version as Word.
Outlook needs to be version 11.8026.8036, but I don't know where that update
resides or the specific process to get it done. Uninstalling Outlook, then
reinstalling from the source disk, always leaves me at 11.8010.8036. Doing
an online Office update doesn't change anything. My assumption is that the
uninstall does not fully clean up everything and the reinstall thinks that it
has already been updated.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm still looking for a solution.

You receive the error message "Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not
the same version as Outlook" when you try to create, to edit, or to reply to
an e-mail message in Outlook 2003

The version of Word 2003 is 11.8026.8036.
The version of Outlook 2003 is 11.8010.8036
Problem: Word cannot be used as the Outlook editor if the versions don't
match.
I've tried uninstall of Outlook and Word, the reinstall from source disk,
but nothing changed.
How can I get Outlook's version to come up to Word's version.
I've tried reregistering all dll files.
