I hvee created a new profile, but the old old Personal Folders are still
there and worse, so are 4 sets of contacts, only one of which works. Are you
telling me that there is no way to get rid of them? Why does uninstalling
and reinstalling not do it. What is causing those phantoms to display?

If you have duplicate phantom copies of your pst then likely your OL profile
is corrupt, and removing/installing OL will not help. Create a new profile.

Russ, I still can't get rid of the 3 sets of Personal Folders plus now I
have
a set of "My Folders" with all my emails. I can't close the Personal
Folders
because it says that the "Operation Failed. The Object Could Not Be
Found." I
have my calendar and my contacts. in fact I have contacts listed 4 times
in
the address book, three of which can't be displayed. I don't know enough
about how Outlook works and how things are stored and what controls what
gets
displayed to follow general directions. I'm afraid I need details on how
to
get rid of these. I even tried to uninstall Office and reinstall it, but
they're still there.
