I've never had a former SBC domain but pop.correo.yahoo.es and
stmp.correo.yahoo.es has worked, free, since its inception as other non
.com domains. I guess Yahoo's experiment with charging for yahoo.com
email didn't work out ...

Um, 'correo' is not a domain name, that I am aware of. It certainly
wasn't ever used by SBC.

Now why did I guess that 'correo' is Spanish for 'email'? Cognency of
'correo' and 'correspondence'? Or format of the server name? I am not
all that competent with Spanish, though I know a little of the U.S.
Barrio variety. But I do have access to 'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp'.
Probably because most mail client applications can't handle the Japanese
characters for 'denshi', plus the 'katakana' characters for 'mail'
(romanizing as 'me-ru'). I.e., 電*メール。

Anyway, outside of the U.S.A., Yahoo! Mail service, where it has a
national Identity, uses the format, '[pop|smtp].mail.yahoo.co.cc', where
the 'cc' will be a country code, such as 'uk', 'jp', or 'es'. I guess
the 'mail' part will be the Latin characters for the national language
word in place of 'mail'. You _do_ have to subscribe to Yahoo! Delivers;
at least I did when 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com' was still free, as well as for
'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp'.
