The penny dropped... I complicated something that should have been very
simple to fix ! In the 'file as' box - I deleted the lastname, firstname I
had typed in myself, selected the 'lastname, firsname' that then came up
automatically and all the name entries are in the same order again. I had to
do this for each entry separately, so was very glad the problem has not been
going on for too many weeks !
Thanks for your solution

Sorry - the word Address Book is obviously misleading, so ignore it - I am
referring to Contacts. Should do a Detect and Repair perhaps ?

Suddenly, when I enter a new contact in my Outlook Address Book
(Microsoft Outlook version 2002) the field for Full Name reverses
lastname and firstname although I enter these in firstname, lastname
order. This means that when entering addresses in my email some of
the list comes up by lastname although most is by firstname. I must
have changed something, but don't know what. Please help !
Since the Address Book contains no data, you should never enter anything
from the Address Book. Your contacts are in the Contacts folders and
that
where you should add them.
