As Bruce said, you have to be using HTML format to be able to change
fonts, etc. in a message.
You set your default for messages at Tools, Options, Send, HTML.
Also, note the option there to "Reply to Messages in the format in which
they were sent". If that is selected and you are replying to a plain
text message, that overrides your setting to use HTML.
