Default is preview pane safe?

The preview pane opens the message when you select (single-click) the
message. It's a good practice to turn off the preview pane as a security
measure. That way, single-clicking merely selects the message, so you
can then delete it or move it to another folder for further investigation.

somewhere in my first use of machine i read somewhere that preview pane
should be turned off so email cannot be partially viewed. my friend is using
his. i didn't realize you only single click the message to view it in pane.
is this a safe way to use the preview pane since you're not double clicking
the email?

just an inquiry.

thank you, len kiesling
