meeting notes disappear after updates

I have a client with an MS Exchange 2003/Outlook 2007 setup with a shared calender that's got delegatated users that are allowed to update it.

When they create appointments they write notes for them, which works fine, until the appointment gets changed either by a delegated user or on a smartphone running windows mobile (6.1 I think), then the notes go missing. The appointment gets changed fine, but the notes are gone.

Can anyone here suggest what might be going on? I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with time zones, although they're all in the same office things always get mixed up around daylight savings (why, WHY can't M$ get timezones right?! - store appointments in UTC, display with offset, SIMPLE ... argh, anyway.... ).

which suggests that this is expected behaviour. Correct? Fixed/changed in later versions of Outlook?

Nothing? No-one has any idea?
Are there any calendering options for outlook/exchange that allow you do have persistent notes?
