Meeting request shows up as plain text

Hey guys!

I have user that is using outlook 2003 on exchange 2000 that is sending a
meeting request to a client with outlook 2003 in internet only mode. The
meeting request shows up as plain text. Any ideas why this would happen?

Thanks!

Mike

Outlook 2003 doesn't have an Internet Mail Only mode. Only Outlook 98/2000
had that.

A couple of reasons come to mind. The recipient has enabled the option to
receive all messages in plain text, is one. Another is that the recipient's
contact record in the sender's Contacts folder specifies that all messages
should be sent in Plain Text. A third is that the sender is actually
sending a Plain Text message.

Thanks for the response. Where do you go to set the contact to send as plain
text? And where would the reciever go to recieve only plain text?

Open the contact record and double-click the e-mail address of the contact.
Examine the "Internet format" drop-down at the bottom.

And where would the reciever go to recieve only plain text?

There is a known incompatiblity between Outlook 2000 and later versions related to reminders on meeting requests sent in iCalendar (aka iCal) format. To resolve this issue, do one of the following:

-- Contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the Outlook 2000 post-SP3 hotfix described in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823199

-- Tell the senders to remove any reminder before sending you an iCal meeting request.

-- Tell the senders to send to you in native Outlook meeting request (RTF) format, not as iCal.
