Could not read the calendar error
This is not the same error most people get when sharing a calendar. This has
me stumped. I have an Exchange 2000 Server with Outlook 2003 clients. I've updated all Outlook 2003 clients to the latest updates and Exchange has the latest service pack and updates. When clients change the day view on a PUBLIC CALENDAR to 31 days and scroll to the next month, they get the error "Could not read the calendar. You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation." Once you click Ok, it allows you to view the data normally. What's really strange is a user WITH APPROPRIATE PERMISSIONS can add an entry, then once they switch over to do something in a local folder and switch back to the public calendar, the entry they've made earlier disappears. Some others in the office are able to see these entries and some aren't. I've tried renaming the folder, I've tried exporting the data out (which is substantial at this point) and putting it into a new public calendar, none of which has solved the problem. We need a solution to this problem. Has anyone else experienced this? |

I'm not certain, but could it be that you are only viewing one month of the
calendar at a time? I'm referring to the feature where you can publish a certain amount of months of free or busy time. Follow me on this: Click "Tools" Choose "Options" In the box, under Calencar, click the button "Calendar Options" Then click the button "Free/Busy Options" near the bottom. Then there is an option to publish __ months of calendar free/busy information on the server. Now mine is set to 3 months, and I'm not sure if that means OTHER people can see only 3 months of my free/busy stuff or if I can view 3 months of stuff on shared calendars, but maybe this needs to be set on the shared calendar itself rather than your own? Not sure this will help, but thought I'd try. Good luck! |

That might help with the viewing error but what about the disappearing
entries we've been experiencing? I think there's something more going on here than just a viewing issue. I will certainly give your idea a try. Thanks for the info! Could not read the calendar error
CF - did you ever solve this problem? I'm experiencing the same thing and
have searched everywhere trying to find an answer? Does anyone else have ideas on what the problem is here? More details: This occurs for only one user (A) in an office of 20 when they are viewing one other user's (B) calendar. They (A) can view all others just fine. On top of that, all other users can view the calendar (B) that user (A) has trouble viewing. All permissions are set up identically as are all settings within Outlook that "should" relate to something like this. When user A initially goes into user B's calendar, today's appointments should up just fine. However, when they try to navigate within the calendar or change to another day, they get the error: "Could not read the calendar. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator." Another unique condition with this problem is that user A can only see private items within user B's calendar once the error has occured. This is the case regardless of the permission settings selected by user B for user A regarding viewing private entries. Active Directory settings are identical for all users. The environment is Windows 2000 Server, Exchange 2000 Server, Office 2003 on Dell Optiplex Desktops. Any and all help solving this issue is much appreciated.
