Either provide the specifics of what version(s) of Outlook you are using or search this news group archive for the answer posted several times each week.

I am having the same problem using Outlook 2003 from a Microsoft Exchange
Server. When I send a meeting request to a colleague, it has the Accept, Tentative, Decline buttons but not if I send to an outside email. Then, it comes in as text (Vcalendar?) You need to force RTF formatting on the external recipient's mail. Double click it, Outlook Properties, change from "let Outlook decide..." to "Always use RTF.."

Thanks for responding. I tried this, but it did not change the outcome.
There still was no option to Accept, Decline etc. I have been successful in sending the meeting request via an i-calendar but this is somewhat more inconvenient. Any other ideas? Ok. I did some digging and found out that this problem stems from the i
calendar feature. On my account, I cannot enable the checkbox 'when sending meeting requests over the internet, use icalendar format'. It is grayed out. Any idea why this is and what i can do to change it? Thanks "SK" wrote: Thanks for responding. I tried this, but it did not change the outcome.
