How do you get Outlook to warn you about scheduling appointments that overlap
when not using the Meeting Request? In previous versions Outlook would warn
you if you manually book appointments that overlap or are next to each other.

I use Outlook 2003

For example I booked an appointment for 10:00 on Tuesday of next week to go
visit a client. A few days later our company banker phones and wants to book
a meeting that overlaps the first. I was able to book the latter meeting
without a notice that I had a conflict with the first. How do I get Outlook
to warn me?

The only time I've seen this happen, is when one of the meetings has
been set to "Free" instead of "Busy" in the "Show time as" field.

Is the an option somewhere to warn about conflicts. Both appointments are listed as Busy

Tools-options-calendar options-planner options. Additionally, mark your
time as either busy or out of office when you accept a meeting - this will
update your free/busy and provide the conflict notice that you want.
