miss the bell: reminder symbol display on calendar
 

Well, I didn't take it away, but yes, Microsoft uses a lot of focus groups
in their study of how people work with computers. They also make heavy use
of usability labs and even send people around to offices to watch how real
people in the real world work. They are also aware people miss the bell - I
had the opportunity to speak with the product team recently and it was on
the list of user complaints we discussed.

I use the work week view and, after being changed to Outlook 2007 recently,
I find it bizarre that Microsoft has removed the reminder symbol in the
interests of cleaning up the display. Oh well, it sounds like I have to try a
table view. I have had a look at the All Appointments view, which isn't
really the kind of view I want, but in any event I can't see how to make the
items show if they have a reminder. Can someone help or point me to a

I agree with the other disgruntled posters who miss the bell. One of the
"official" replies here stated users can set the default to have a reminder
on all scheduled appointments, BUT that does nothing for incoming
appointments - only appointments I schedule myself. I am lost without the
bell. If an appointment does not have a reminder on it, I will miss the
appointment. And if I'm invited to a meeting and the scheduler did not set a
reminder, I can't know that without opening up the meeting to check it. I
could spend all day just opening up meetings that other people scheduled to
make sure they have reminders set on them, since the bell is gone.

Where are the instructions for setting a table view?

Any of the views short of Day/Week/Month and timeline are table views. If
you are looking to see which ones don't have reminders, a custom view would
be better.

Create a filter for Remind Beforehand does not exist.

ViewCurrent ViewBy Category is one of the table views you have
automatically. You can add the "Reminder" column to that view if you wish.
The reminder column will show a bell icon for each entry with a reminder.
You can group by the reminder column and then if any other entries need
reminders, you can select them and drag them to the Reminder group.
