Stop Others from Viewing

Using outlook 2003, now do I prevent others from being able to view my
appt / calendar details.

I have read other posting about , Tools, Options, Calendar options,
PLANNING - but these are on the client computer. I have a meeting
that is going over salary proposals, and year end bonuses, I don't
want the details of any of my meetings to be available to anyone
(except the meeting attendees) when they are planning a meeting. I
want it to just say "BUSY", nothing more.

View them where?

Details shouldn't be visible if you're not sharing your calendar.

Yeah, they shouldn't be, but they are.
If I go to schedule a meeting in outlook 2003, and type in "a user" on
our system in the attendees box, and then scan across to a meeting (in
the future or past) hover over it, it will show the time and subject
of the meeting, if I click on it, I can open the meeting, and see what
ever the user has typed in the meeting notes, as well as all of the
attendees. Even though DEFAULT and Anonymous (in the users who's
appointment I am looking at) are set to NONE for their permission
level in the Calendar Properties. All I want them to be able to see
is that the time is BUSY. I certainly don't want them to be able to
open the appointment.

Clearly permissions are set to allow this, possibly in AD. I can't tell you
were to look in AD to turn it off, though, since it's not truly an Outlook
problem.

it's an old IT trick, set EVERYONE (or DOMAN USERS) to full access, then you
never have to worry about setting permission again...

How does this accomplish what the OP requested?

I have the same question. I think I can only open other's appointments if
they are using 2003 becuase some do show just busy and we still have many
people using 2000 (I haven't verified it). I have to be very careful about
the appointment content now. Anyone can open the meeting requests by checking
availability while scheduling.

Has anyone come up with a cause and/or solution? Thank you.
