I have two separate computers on a wireless network. Both have Office 2000
installed. I want to be able to share one calendar but cannot figure out how or if it can be done. One the main computer I use OE for mail and Outlook for the Calendar functions. On the 2nd computer I use Outlook for all tasks. Thanks... |

Hi Walter,
for Outlook 2000 you could try "Netfolders" (Freeware). Have a look on this site : http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/netfolders.htm Maybe it helps. -- Oliver Vukovics Share Outlook without Exchange (Vista Ready): Public ShareFolder Synchronize Outlook between PC and Notebook: Public SyncTool http://www.publicshareware.com "Walter A" Walter schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... Oliver,
I was hoping for a way to do this a little simpler. Can two computers access the same pst file in a shared folder without causing problems? On the "master" PC, put the PST in a locally-hosted network share. Start Outlook and when it complains that it can't find the folders, browse to the new location of the PST. On the remote PC, add the PST with FIleOpenPersonal Folders File, browse to the share, select the PST and click OK. Be sure to make frequent PST backups as this isn't supported and can lead to data loss. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

news ![]() Oliver, I was hoping for a way to do this a little simpler. Can two computers access the same pst file in a shared folder without causing problems? Yes and no. Yes, but only one at a time, and no, because using a pst file across a network is one of the fastest and most frequent ways to a corrupt pst file.... |

No. Only one outlook can use a pst at one time and network access to pst's
is not supported and can result in lost data. Netfolders sucks. There are better solutions, unfortunately, none are free. http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.asp -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com "Walter A" wrote in message news ![]() Oliver, I was hoping for a way to do this a little simpler. In short, yes, but both clients need to be Microsoft Outlook. Keep in mind, Outlook Express doesn't even have calendar functions. So, if you were to move to using Outlook on both computers there's a great Outlook addin, and it's very affordable as well, called 3StepShare http://www.3stepshare.com. With this addin you can share Microsoft Outlook calendar, contact, task, and email between two or more Microsoft Outlook users. It does it all via email which means you don't have to do any network configuration...it's very easy to use.
There you have it...enjoy. |
