Categorize a single occurence feature

I am aware that in Outlook 2007 it is not possible to categorize a single
occurrence of a recurring appointment but was wondering if anyone knows of
any tools or other software that would allow for this to be done? Also,
wondering if there are any plans for future releases to have this
functionality available and why it was taken away as you could do this in
older versions of Outlook. Thanks.

Copy the one you want to categorize, and apply it to that one, basically
turns it into a single instance.

Bob's idea is about the only way to do it. Recurring events are single
items in the calendar with the recurrences being calculated and not separate
items. Since categories are connected with items, the category set you
apply to that item spans the recurrences.

How do you copy an appointment without just creating a new one from scratch?
