Coordinating Home & Office Appointments

At the office we use Outlook 2003 Small Business Edition. At home we use
Outlook 2003 Professional Edition.

If I enter a new appointment at the office, I can email to my home email
address by clicking "Forward as iCalendar." Then when I get home I can click
on the appointment, and click save and it will be in my calendar on my home
computer.

However, when I forward appointments from home to the office, I can't save
them to the calendar that way. Any suggestions?

Sue, when I receive the appointment at work (emailed from my home computer),
and click on it, it opens in a window that's sort of like an appointment. In
the title bar, there's the calendar icon in the top left corner and the name
of the appointment.

Underneath that, there's a menu toolbar with File, Edit, View, etc.

Underneath that, there's another toolbar that has options for Accept,
Tentative, Decline and Propose New Time, but these options are grayed out.
This tool bar also has options for Calendar...., Save, Attach and Delete.

The next line says, "This meeting is not in the Calendar; it may have been
moved or deleted.

The next line is "To...", with a space for me to insert an emial address.

What I can't figure out is how to save it as an appointment in my calendar.
It works fine on the other end, at my home computer.

Sue, thanks, very much. It's still a lot more cumbersome than what happens
when I email appointments from the office to home -- I just click on them and
click "Save" -- but it gets me there.

I really appreciate it.

Is this due to the fact that one version of Outook is Professional and the
other is the Small Business edition?

More likely, it's that you're using Exchange as your mail server at work, and it's not translating outbound meeting requests into iCalendar.

I have the same problem... except I have newly instaled MS~SBS w/OL 2003 at
work, and OL Pro XP (2002) sp3 at home. All appointments sent home show as a
normal email, no where to "Accept", Deny" etc... and save to calendar.
Andrea, I want to try to ..."clicking "Forward as iCalendar."... but how do
I do that? (I don't recal seeing a button to forward...) do I have to save
first, then right click "Forward" that way?

Andrea, as I posted earlier I have a similar problem. Have you tried the
"Invite Attendees" method sending TO work instead of Forward as iCalendar?
(BTW I found the forward as iCalendar button I asked about in last post), I
too have OL 2003 at work, (with MS Small Business Server), and I believe as
Sue said...

...."More likely, it's that you're using Exchange as your mail server at

I can successfully send appointments TO work via "Invite Attendees" (then a
simple "Accept" on the other end places it in the calendar) but cannot
successfully send Invite Attendees home, so I will use your method (Forward
as iCalendar) while sending appointments home to sync.
