Dismiss Alerts

I'm using Outlook 2007 and have read some of the Q's and A's regarding issues
with Alerts, but found none to solve my problem. I have a recurring events,
like birthdays, for which I want to be alerted once a day beginning a week in
advance. However, once we get within that prior week window, the alerts pop
up every 15 minutes even after dismissing them. How do I stop/prevent that
and have the alerts pop up only once per Outlook session?

Are you dismissing or snoozing the alerts?
