Thanks Jim. I did "state the operating system I am using" and
"version number of Outlook Express". I even threw in the computer
make and model for good measure. I also "delivered feedback" to the
first response. I know that MVP's are VBP's (Very Busy Persons) and
you have to use "prefabbed" responses sometimes, but I do feel
somewhat chastised ;-).
Neverthe less, your work is much appreciated and your advice has been
very helpful to me in the past.

Go to Help | About and give us the complete version number (e.g.
6.00.2800.1106).

It sounds like your saved eml files were saved from your Sent Items folder
and what you have in mind in to "resend" them. To do that requires a very
small bit of editing in Notepad. To save typing, review the editing
required by going to this link (where you'll find it as the first question
in the FAQ):

Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped.
Thanks.

Default OE won't open .eml files.

Thanks, Jim, for not giving up on this! The FAQ you recommended is very
interesting, although my saved .eml files were not saved from the "Sent
Items" folder. They were saved originally from a Staioneries News Group to
"My Documents" as a .nws file which I changed to .eml and also went through
that "X-Unsent: 1" thing. At this point they could easily be resent simply
by clicking on the .eml file. They were then saved to a CD then back to my
"Restored" My Documents folder where they ran into the trouble previously
reported.
Perhaps something was "Lost In Translation"............
Strangely, they are now working as required, without any action on my part.
This is the second time. I don't expect it to last.

BTW, I have acquired a little program which takes care of all that "Notebook
/ X-Unsent- 1" business. It resides on my desktop as an icon on to which I
merely have to drag & drop the .eml file. It is then ready to be resent.

Thanks again.
Andy I.

Default OE won't open .eml files.

Glad to hear it's now working and thanks for the feedback. You should know
that when you save a file to a CD, its properties are changed in one
important aspect and that is that a "Read-Only" attribute is set. That why
you cannot import mail messages from a message store when the store exists
on a CD. But is should not have created a problem resending with saved
mails or newsgroup postings.
