I want to add a jpg into my signature. I created a file in Word with the
picture inserted and the text I wanted. I have tried saving it as a HTML,
and other formats but I keep getting an error message when I compose the
email (and I cannot see the picture) that the picture cannot be found.

An HTML signature cannot be larger than 4 KB in size. What size signature
are we talking about and are you aware you can only use a HTML signature in
an HTML formatted message? It will never be applied to a Plain Text
message.

You have to use HTML formatting. Then create an HTML file for your
signature including a reference to the image and save the HTML file to a
location on your hard drive:

HTML
BODY
IMG src="file://c:\myimages\myimage.jpg"
/BODY
/HTML

Make sure the full and complete path to the image is included as the src.

Then go to Tools | Options | Signatures and designate that HTML file at the
location you saved it to as your HTML signature.

Hi Christine,

I did not find a "signature" file created in Word to be compatible with
Outlook Express. Jim offers a very helpful answer. The picture could be
larger than 3-4 KB if it is not part of the message file. The path to a
picture file in a Web folder could be used. Even so, the picture should not
be too much larger for everyday mailings. Also, many people block HTML
content. Knowing the recipient welcomes Rich Text (HTML) mail is helpful.
