I'm finding the number of people in my address book who take it upon
themselves to forward my e-mails alarming. If they find an e-mails they amusing or interesting it goes to their entire address list. Quite often I'll find an e-mail reply from someone I never heard of, responding to something I wrote weeks ago. Why can't individuals just copy and paste the item into a new e-mail? Once it's forwarded, the original sender's address gets sent time and again. Even worse are those AOL'er's who forward mail. I've found that you have to open the mail as many times as the original has been forwarded. I've just set up a rule to delete forwarded mails. Other than switching to Outlook 2003, is there any way to block e-mails from being forwarded by the recipient using Outlook Express 6? |

I'm afraid its the way of the world, if you send a funny email to someone
then they will forward it on to their contacts, its always been like that and will always be like it. Not to sound rude but if you don't want contacts you send email to, to forward them to their contacts then don't send the email in the first place. Exchange, IMAP, or SMTP? If not Exchange, it's not your mail after it gets sent. There are copyright issues but the object which is the mail is no longer under your control. Same problem would occur if you sent out postal e-mail to the same recipients (providing they didn't care about the cost of postage and making hardcopies of your postal mail). -- __________________________________________________ Post replies to the newsgroup. There is nothing you can do to prevent forwarding, but if you send it via
BCC, at least no one will see any address but yours. Some people are just plain rude. eg To use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) feature, In Create Mail, either click ViewAll Headers and type in the addresses separated by a ; Or: Click the To button. You will see your list of contacts and the choice of putting them in the To, CC, or BCC field. Click on an address, then click BCC to add it. Repeat for all the contacts you want. (Note: Most ISP's have limits as to how many e-mails you can send a one time. 25 is common, but it varies). Put your own address in the To box. This is the only address/name that any recipient will see. If you leave the To field blank, some people may not receive the e-mail due to message rules they have set up, or restrictions set by their ISP. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ wrote in message ... I've started to edit e-mails I send because of that. Before I write anything, I take into account the possibility it's going to be forwarded. I've also created another e-mail address for e-mails I send that I think may be forwarded. |
