You know the sound the system makes when you delete a post or empty your
delete files??///// well when I am not working at my computer and the
computer is on occasionally I hear that same sound.....maybe once a
day/evening with nothing to tell me what it was doing..?????This makes me
wonder if I have ghost deleting something in my computer? Yolanda

Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices | Sounds. Check the sounds for each
action they are set to and see if any of them match that sound. The arrow in
front of the Browse button will play the sound.

I just checked and windows sounds asterisk and exclamation are what I hear
occasionally closely resembling emptying of delete or when deleting news
post when I am not at the computer and it doesn't specify what the event is
that those two sounds are being played....... Thank you for telling me
about this.... I do have sounds and have had sounds turned off in OE for a
long time so it wouldn't be anything else OE I don't think other than a
delete operation. Yolanda

The settings are global, not OE specific. If the problem continues, you may
want to ask in the newsgroup for your OS.
