I have OE set to check for new messages every 30 minutes. When It starts to
check for new messages it just shows "connecting" but does not respond. I close it out and it sends the usual error report. The only way I have to get around this is to disable the check for messages option. I would like to be able to use the automatic function for checking mail. Can anyone help me in this matter? |

Are you running an antivirus/antispam program that is checking your incoming
mail? If so, try disabling email scanning and the problem should go away. If that's not the case, then more details would be helpful, such as operating system in use, version as shown in the Help/About menu of Outlook Express and the "complete and exact" text of any error message you may be getting. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Sorry about the lack of information. I have Windows xp sp2 OE 6. I disabled
my antivirus and that took care of the problem. Thanks so much!!! "Jim Pickering" wrote in message ... Are you running an antivirus/antispam program that is checking your incoming mail? Don't disable the anti-virus itself; disable email scanning in the anti-virus. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Please respond in Newsgroup.
