Default OE 6 Contact pane - no sorting

My OS is Windows XP Home. The Contacts pane has a tab that allows sorting:
by name or status, and new contacts. New Online Contact and Set as Online
Contact are grayed out. The choices in black should be active - they are
not. Previously the Contact list showed my contacts that were online - not
now. What's up here?

Thanks

Bob

Are you running Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger? Online means that
the contact is signed into the same messenger program that you are.

That functionality is no longer available using MSN Messenger. It is if
you're using Windows Messenger.
