Mail and Newsgroups problem

I just installed a new HD with a fresh copy of XP Home sp2
Prior to installing my new HD, all of the headers were dimmed when
all of the posts to that thread were read, when a new post was added to the
thread, the header became BOLD again. After reading a post, that post was
dimmed. This is happening in Mail and in the NG's, I can not tell when a
post or email has been read. Please tell me how to get this back again???

Thank You,
digimom

Please read your own post. What do you want to get back? Your post suggests
that unread posts and e-mails were bold before the change and the same now.
This is the default behavior.

Please clarify. If newsgroups and your Inbox remain bold all the time, then:

This can happen if your desktop icon font is set to bold. Go to: Control
PanelDisplayAppearanceAdvanced. In the Item box, scroll down to Icon and
click the *B* once to return the fonts to normal. Also, the font size should
be set to 8. (Mine are Tahoma - 8). OK and Apply.

Mail and Newsgroups problem

That was it Bruce ... I wanted to get back the ability to see when the mail
and posts have been read... You were correct, I had my icons set for bold (I
have trouble with my vision) I corrected it and now my read email and posts
show when they have been read. I will just have to use a magnifier a bit
more often now. Thank you for solving my problem.

Try using Tahoma - 10 or 12 for the Icon font size.
