Default Outlook reinstallation?

I have XP with RSP2 and am having all kinds of errors from Outlook Express. 1
error message reads "The address book failed to load. Outlook is incorrectly
configured. Please reinstall" 2nd error message reads "There was an error
opening this message. An error has occurred" (that happens if you try to open
a message or to compose a new message.

Hi Art,

This problem may be caused by security update 911567. This can be checked by
uninstalling the update.

Default Outlook reinstallation?

Hello KT
I thought the update dated April 26 for KB911567 covered this problem with
the address book.
Or was that to correct another problem caused by the one dated
11 April.

Hi Antioch,

The only change I heard about was a warning not to uninstall the update, but
others may know more and be able to definitively answer your question.

I have completely lost the 'plot' in the last three to four weeks - and it
appears I am not alone then. So which update to not uninstall is it?
It would be nice if one of the really switched-on guys gave us 'hams' some
sort of definitive report re those last load of crxp downloads/upgrades.
But some are even scratching their heads.

Default Outlook reinstallation?

Greetings,
I've never installed 911567, I've never got far enough to get any updates.
It is not listed in my progarm install or remove. I have backed up my Express
folders and removed most of the messages (during the many times Outlook tried
to update it had duplicated all my stored emails till I had over 10,000, now
under a 1,000) and I am getting a new error message that says I don't have
enough memory, I've 512 megs of memory. Where do I go from here? Being that I
have SP2 do I remove that per 318378 & 875350? I am getting real gun shy of
Outlook Express. Is there a CD that can be gotten from MS that has the latest
vesion on IE & OE?

Review the info in this KB article for some possible help:

Err Msg: Address Book Failed to Load, Outlook Express Is...:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=191946

If that does not do the trick, then post with the "complete and exact" text
of any error messages you may be receving. Portions of error messages that
are not complete and exact are not really helpful.

Does it sound as if the poster has not been allowing compaction to take

Hard to tell with the limited info provided. Guessing often leads to the
wrong choice.
