Help: Now deleted - OE thru Hotmail Migrated folders between accounts

I have several hotmail accounts accessable from OE 6. I went into one
account (say B( moments ago and I seen that all my folders from another
account (A) were migrated into this hotmail account. I them went a head
and opened up Hotmail through IE and looked at what was there. Online
everything was ok so I then deleted the folders from B. I then went
into A and I tried to do some housecleaning I got an error message. I
then restared OE and I seen that the folders were deleted from BOTH A
and B accounts.

What the heck happened? How can I get back my email ?

Thanks

You can't get it back. With Hotmail, what you see in MSOE is a mirror of
what exists on the Hotmail servers. If you delete anything in MSOE, it
will be deleted from the Hotmail servers.

When you have multiple Hotmail accounts, and you try to access them from
the same Identiy in MSOE, you sometimes get the folders appearing to be
mixed between the accounts. This is, apparently, a bug in MSOE. The only
way I ever found to deal with the issue is to use multiple MSOE
Identities, with one, and _only_ one, MSN Hotmail account configured in
each Identity. Six Hotmail accounts? Create six Identities.

Windows version of the machine in question?

Post the complete error message, to your best recollection. Did the error
cause OE to crash?

Do both accounts still look OK at www.hotmail.com? Are you a Hotmail Plus
or MSN Premium subscriber?

Thank you for your reply.

I have had hotmail and accessed it continueously and almost exclusively
through OE
for the last 7 years and I have never had this problem before.

You're welcome. It is actually two different issues. I had three MSN
Hotmail accounts accessed from one MSOE Identity, and frequently saw the
folders getting intermingled, locally. I finally tried separating them,
one Hotmail account per MSOE Identity. That was the cure.

The other, where deleted messages locally deletes them from the server,
is not a but, but a feature. Same for both HTTPMail (WebDAV) accounts,
and IMAP accounts. If you want to keep a message locally, but delete it
from the server, you _must_ move the message to a local folder before
you delete it. Meaning exactly that; under the Local Folders tree.
