Hi Cliff,

Do you save a copy of messages in the Sent Items folder? It is likely full
and/or corrupt. Delete both Sent Items.dbx and Outbox.dbx in the OE message
store folder. First move all messages to be saved to a new user created
folder.

Close Outlook Express before deleting the files.

When done compact all folders while in Offline mode.
File, Folder Compact All Folders

Search Alternative

1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.

2. In the Named box, type Outbox.dbx. Include hidden files and folders
(Win 2000 or Win XP.

3. In the Look in box, click your primary hard disk (usually drive C),
and then click Find Now.

4. Right-click the Outbox.dbx file that appears, and then click Rename.

5. Type Outbox.old, and then click OK.

6. Restart Outlook Express to rebuild the Outbox.dbx file, and then
send the message. Any message left in the old Outbox will not be in the new
folder.

Open the Store Folder Alternative

1.. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store
Folder.
2.. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder.
3.. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end.
4.. Right-click on the text and choose Copy.
5.. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store
folder.

An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to
highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run
and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily
modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options.

Thanks, ... deleting the outbox.dbx has done the trick. The file must have
got corrupted somehow. The Sent items and deleted items dbx drawers, have
been getting bigger although I regularly clear them out from within Outlook.
Each dbx was over 250Mb! I'm not sure why they do that either

cheers
Andrew
