Hello all, I'm new to Outlook Express,

Can I create a cool looking signature to use with Outlook Express, or am I
stuck using a plain text signature, i.e.- no coloring, no bolding, no text
sizing options, etc....

It appears that in the Tools - Options - Signatures tab, you have to use
basic text. If I create a signature in MS Word.doc and try to use that,
Outlook Express won't let me insert it.

What other options for creating a good looking signature other than a basic
plain text.txt signature do I have with Outlook Express? ? ?

Any help is deeply appreciated.

Save your fancy signature as an HTM file.
Make sure it is less than 4 KB.
You should then be able to use it in HTML messages.

There is a 4 KB size limit on a signature file.
Word insert a lot of unneeded code that greatly increases the file size.

You can compose a signature with OE and Notepad.
Create your signature in an OE mail composition window.
View, check Source Edit.
Click on the Source tab.
Highlight and copy the source code.
Paste the code into Notepad.
Save As "signature.htm". Include the quotes. Change signature to your
chose of a name.
Tools, Options, Signatures, click File, use signature.htm for your signature
file.

I have had a real problem with signatures in OE and started reading whatever
I could find in this forum. Just wanted to let you know that after happening
upon your post, I followed these instructions and it works like a dream.

Thanks very much - my boss will be thrilled that I finally got all of his
signature to appear instead of it being truncated (probably because I used
Word)
