I keep getting doubles of some e-mails. It started off with one person who
was sending messages within our group and now everyone is getting doubles of
each others messages. Is it a virus or some way that outlook express is
configured.?

Hotmail or IMAP?
Turn off one of these options:

When starting go directly to my Inbox

or

Send and Receive messages at startup.

With both of these options checked, OE essentially is asking for Hotmail or
MSN Web mail messages twice, concurrently. Also, don't manually go to your
Hotmail or MSN Web mail Inbox until the mail check is complete.

Sorry I didn't post the question properly. The double messages only happen in
Outlook express. I am using version 6.0

Is it a POP3 account? And you only get two copies?

It is a pop3 account and I get only doubles. If someone in the group sends me
an e-mail to me only or sends an e-mail to a specific person in the group it
doesn't double up. As soon as anyone sends a message to the group or sends a
"reply to all" it doubles up the messages.

All other messages come in as singles.

Oh, I see. I don't think there's any way to get around that. Maybe someone
else will think of one. The trouble is, you really are sent two messages,
one by the person and the other by the list server.
