OE sending blank response posts to a newsgroup when reading
Hello,
Someone I know is having the problem that when he just *reads* messages on a newsgroup, when closing each message (X close box), OE automatically sends a response to the group, which shows up on the group as a blank reply (the original content of the message being included, but nothing else). Never heard of this problem, anyone else got any clues? Thx, --Mitch |

I've never heard of that either.
To accomplish that, he'd have to do a Reply Group (Ctrl+G) and then a Send (Alt+S). Apparently he is not reading in the Preview Pane (View, Layout). If he were, he wouldn't need to click the X to close the message, he would just click on the next message in the list of messages to have that message appear in the preview pane. To open a message in it's own window, he would double click the message in the list of messages. I wonder if instead of that he is click the Reply Group button (or Ctrl+G). That would open the message for a reply. He could still read the message in that mode. Possibly he has set up some key board macros that might be doing that. I suspect that if he just reads the messages in the Preview Pane, he won't have a problem. Additionally, if in Tools, Options, Send he uncheck the Send Immediately and Tools, Options, General, he uncheck check for new messages every xx minutes, any accidentally sent posts will go to his Outbox and stay there. He can then select the Outbox and delete the unwanted posts after reading. Then he can use the Send and Receive button to send any good stuff. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Mitch" wrote in message ...
