Delay in Sending posts.

To many times posts to groups seem to take forever. I find it quicker to
close OE and open it again just to get the thing sent. Is this a problem
with OE or something else?

TIA

J.

What happens when the message will not leave OE, do you get any error
message, does the server timeout? etc
Do you have your AV software set to scan mail in & out? If so disable it,
since it serves no useful purpose, and is known to cause similar problems.

Sometimes the message is sent right away and sometimes it is not. Sometimes
I get an error when changing groups and it takes forever to catch up while
other groups seem to have no delay. I am wondering if there is more than one
problem or it has to do with Comcast or what. If I go to the outbox and make
it send it will go off right away.

I see this intermittent sending problem on one of the 4 news servers that I
use, annoying true, but it is a server problem.
Going to the Outbox will change nothing, pure coincidence I would say?

What is the error on changing groups?

Have you compacted your message store? Those delays are caused by bloated
..dbx files.
Select Outlook Express in the folder treefile menuwork offlinefile
menucompactall folders. Do not touch the machine until compaction
completes.

I have this happen all the time so I don't read the error anymore. There
are also problems with the news server so multiple problems are present
which adds to the headache. I am always getting a message to wait for
compression so I have the messages appear on one monitor while the
compression message is viewable on another. Before I would be waiting and
not seeing that question window waiting for my response. I know I will just
have to take some time just to debug the problems and not care about getting
the group posts out as soon as possible. Sucks if you are expecting a chat
like conversation in semi-real-time.

One thing that really sucks about those error windows is that you can not
copy them and paste them to anything. I hate having to write down anything
any more when at the keyboard. Boooo.

You should be able to highlight the message text in the error window
(hold down the left mouse button while dragging the mouse over the
text). Then press Ctrl-C (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the C
key) to copy the highlighted text to the Windows clipboard. You can
then paste that text into the problem description using the Ctrl-V key
combination.

I have been trying to copy the text in the usual way I cut/copy any text in
a message. I hold the left mouse key and drag it over the text area
highlighting it. I then press the right mouse key and get a menu that says I
can cut, copy or select all. I can then release the copied text from being
highlighted and I can paste it anywhere to another message anytime I want as
long as I do not shut down the System. A bit different than how you describe
it but I will try it the next time I see an error window. I just tried to
copy text that is in the window of System Properties. I can highlight my
name and the number but nothing else. Not being able to copy the rest of the
text is what happens in an error window. I would like to try again to make a
better test though.

I just got an error that I have been getting a lot of that says the NNTP
server is not responding and I am unable to highlight any text what so ever.
Does your system also respond this way to errors or are you able to copy the
text? I can not no matter how I try it.

I just forced a news server error (changed the server name) so I could
test this again. You need to click on the Details button which gives
you the server name, port, error code, etc. That can be highlighted
and copied.

The original error in the pop-up window cannot be copied.

I have had server errors all day and have been forced to use another system
so please excuse the wrong user name but I have been able to copy the error
text to the clipboard and paste it to any place I need. The Ctrl key was the
secret.

I have had major problems with this Comcast news server they are using. Big
headache.
