Hello,
how do I retrive a deleted inbox folder?

I assume you mean a folder you created? You can't delete the default Inbox
in a conventional manor.

If it is a folder you created, first make sure it is not in Deleted Items.
If it is, just drag it out. If not, then..........

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder
location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the
location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write
the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer.

In Windows XP, 2K & 3K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show
Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options |
View.

In Windows Explorer, click on the dbx file for the missing folder and drag
it to the Desktop. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as
the one on your desktop. ***Copy a message from any folder to the new one.
You MUST do this.*** Close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop
and drag the file from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you clicked
on to reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."?
Click Yes.

its subfolders to store new messages, which I now receive in my new inbox
folder. I accidently put the old inbox folder in the deleted items folder
taht is also a copy from my old computer and deleted the whole thing thinking
I am only deliting the old deleted items folder I no longer use. Does my
writing make any sense? Can you help me?

It was a user created folder that you deleted. Just follow these
instructions. If the dbx file still exists, you should have no problem.

Some more commentary:
OE subfolders are really only an illusion created for your convenience. For
instance, your Inbox subfolders are actually separate files whose only
connection is on screen by way of Folders.dbx
To import them they have to have been moved along with Folders.dbx and you
have to verify that they are not Read Only. Or you can use the method in
the last paragraph he

If you no longer have the old file to restore into OE, then the only thing
that will help is DBXpress with its extract from disk feature. It will read
all the disk clusters on the hard drive, and there is a good chance it would
recover at least some of the messages. See www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/

Otherwise just import the old folder back into OE manually, as Frank
indicated.
