I still can't get this stupid address book to work! No one has responded to
my old thread for almost a week now so I figured it might be best for me to
post here. I'm still having the same old problems of not being able to export
or import the addresses in my Outlook Express book to the book in my
Microsoft Outlook.

Is Outlook also installed on the same computer as Outlook Express? If so,
just open Outlook Express and on its menu, click File/Export - Address Book.
In order for it to work successfuly, Outlook must be installed on the same
computer and set as the default mail program.

Be aware that Folders and Groups created in an Windows Address Book (WAB)
will neither export nor import. Only those contacts in the Shared Contacts
folder can be exported/imported.

I don't undertand your comment. How are you attempting to use shared
contacts?

And, I note you choose not to answer my two questions. Is Outlook installed
on this problem computer? Is Outlook set as the default mail program. If
you choose not to answer, then there's no point in going on, is there?

I have all the addresses in my book. Then I go to have it share my contacts.
And when I do that all the contacts disappear unless I switch it back to have
it not share contacts.

I do not have a default mail. I do not use these for email. And yes they're
installed on the same computer.

Do not try to share contacts. Open Outlook and make it the default mail
program. Close Outlook. Now open Outlook Express and use its menu,
File/Export/Address Book, selecting to Outlook or Exchange client. When
that completes, close Outlook Express and reopen Outlook. Are the contacts
available now in Outlook? If so, problem is solved. Whether or not you
later keep Outlook as a your default mail program or not is not important.
You are only doing it this time to get the contact information into the
program.

Or are you telling us you do not want your contact information to be in
Outlook? If you don't want to do what I recommended, then we're both just
wasting time here and I'll stop wasting mine now. Good lluck.

Hi Jim
I think he has done this before - introduced another question into one
already asked.
Lots of people have tried - he gives no indication sometimes as to whether
or not some of the suggestions have been tried.
I don't know if you followed any of the other threads??

At least in your old threads (yes, that's plural) you stated your Windows version, albeit with some prompting: http://snipurl.com/t5cj

After sixty-something posts in the old threads, I'd think we've all given it our collective best shot. Now it must be time for either...

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

...or a format & reinstall of Windows.

Best of luck.

ALL of the suggestions have been tried. I'm trying to get this thing doen for
work with the boss jumping down my throat so I don't always remember to put
I've tried all the things.
And Jim, my only problem is where is the files located I am to export to?????

PA Bear, the reason I reposted the question is because I was sure there was
more then just 4 or so people who can help. So I thought perhaps others would
try to help. I had told you I had an XP I had no clue how to figure out any
more info on it, and I believe I had said that. And so when Antioch told me
how I did so.

If Outlook is already installed on the computer, and set as the default mail
program, your contacts from the WAB file will be integrated into either your
PST or PAB file. You are not exporting to any other particular file or
location but you are exporting your contacts to the contact handler in
Outlook.
