Suddenly most of my incoming emails arrive with a paperclip icon next to
them but never had attachments sent with them in the first place. How can I make OE report attachments correctly again? Many thanks, Noel |

Check the options, if you have it set to read all in plain text then the
HTML part of any incoming HTML email will show as an attachment, if you click on the clip you should see it. View menu has an option to view "Message in HTML" that is probably safer than changing this setting... Charlie "Noel S Pamfree" wrote in message ... In Tools / Options I do not have a check in the "Read all in plain text" and
the option on the 'View' menu is greyed out. I can see how if I change it I get a paperclip on the top right of the screen but the paperclip I refer to is the small black one to the left of the header information that appears in the top right pane of Outlook Express, where incoming messages are shown. If these are digitally signed messages then they will show the paperclip.
They may also if they are HTML messages that contain images. steve "Noel S Pamfree" wrote in message ... How can I make OE report attachments correctly again? Many thanks, Noel Are you using AVG antivirus? Then disable scanning of incoming and outgoing mail, it serves no useful purpose and is known to cause this problem. -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. [DTS] |

Problem solved - I turned it off and my emails all arrive with no paperclip
unless I have an attachment! I recently had my Norton Anti-virus corrupt and switched to AGV Free until I solve the problem. Many, many thanks!
