Message Rule to allow only people in my Address Book.
ToolsOptionsMessage RulesMailNew. Box 1 - Where the From line contains people {check it} Box 2 - Delete from server {check it} Box 3 - Click on the blue words Contains People Left click on the top address and hold the mouse key down and drag the cursor to the last address. This will highlight them all. Right click on them and click on From in the menu that appears. OE has only rudimentary spam blocking capabilities. Your friend will be
much happier with a third-party spam blocker. He also has to take basic steps to avoid receiving spam in the first place, such as being careful who gets his email address, staying off mailing lists and not participating in group e-mails. In addition, his ISP may have spam blocking capabilities. --- Ted Zieglar "Backup is a computer user's best friend." I don't understand that rule, Bruce..... condition in top says if it does
not match any of the people selected from address book and so then how could either of the bottom conditions apply .......if it doesn't match then it isn't going to match all and it isn't going to match any one in the list? Yolanda |

It is easier to respond if you include the post you are referring to.
The second part may be moot, since I have never tried it by checking the other button, but I believe that if not checked this way, it may be looking for *all* of the addresses to be included. Either way, it works as I posted. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Yolanda Martin" wrote in message news:4ETCg.23801$6w.5532@fed1read11... It occurred to me that this could be a dangerous tool so instead of "delete from the server" I'm going to use a modified version of the rule for a while so I can see what it's doing. Eventually I'll probably change to "delete". Here's the rule: quote Apply this rule after the message arrives Where the From line does not contain {all the addresses in my address book enclosed in single quotes and separated by commas} Delete it and Stop processing more rules /quote So far it's working brilliantly. Thanks Bruce for showing us how to get all the addresses in the address book into the rule in one step. -- Bob http://www.kanyak.com |

You're welcome & Thanks for posting back. When trying a new rule, you have
it right. It is wise to use Delete it for awhile to be sure it is working and then switch to Delete it from server. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Opinicus" wrote in message ... That method works so long as you remember to update the rule every time
you update your address book. And, of course, you won't see mail that you would otherwise want to see if the sender is not already in your address book. --- Ted Zieglar "Backup is a computer user's best friend."
