how to keep all threads?
OE 6: I have noticed that by default newsgroup threads do not stay with you
forever. I may flag (with the glasses icon) a message so that I can keep track of it. I usually sort by this column so they all go to the top of my list. I know that after not viewing a particular group for a while when I do come back to view it I can see all my flagged threads disappear as the screen refreshes with new downloaded headers. I don't want that to happen. Can I configure OE to just keep *all* the threads I've downloaded indefinitely. without having to save each one manually? I often want to refer back to something that may be months or years old. |

I often want to refer back to something that may be months or years old. The only way is to create a folder under Local Folders, and copy all the watched threads to there. Servers do not keep posts indefinitely, and some may only have a short retention period. Once it's gone from the server, it disappears from OE. Google Groups does archive all posts, so that may be an alternative for you to browse older NG messages. -- Kath Adams MS MVP - Windows (Outlook Express) |

Tell me about that one again Kath :) Might also be worth looking here for download settings, I hope they are there I haven't looked :) I believe the OP will need to set download complete messages not just headers, and maybe remove the 300 at a time limit. -- Still the best sites for OE details http://www.insideoe.tomsterdam.com/ http://www.oehelp.com/ Charlie |
