Control Panel | Sounds | New Mail Notification is where you set the sound.

Tools | Options | General. Check: Play sound when new messages arrive.

If it is checked already, then: Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices |
Sounds. Scroll down to New Mail Notification and select the sound you want.

It could be a bad soundcard, but this in not really in my area. Keep
checking back. I'm sure someone here has the fix for that error message.
