Default Missing Entries in Address Book

1. Do you have this Registry key?...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Software
\Microsoft
\WAB
\WAB4

YES

If not, STOP; If so, is there a DWORD named UseOutlook (NB: no space) and
is its value set to 1 (one)?

NO

If not, STOP; If so, Address Book is configured to share contacts with
Outlook, even if you don't use it (can happen with the install of Office).
Change the value to 0 (zero) and all should be well. (If that DWORD is
not present, don't create it, and don't alter any other DWORD values.)

Note that any changes (additions, deletions, edits) made while sharing was
enabled will not be available (displayed) in Address Book when sharing is
disabled.

I left all of the other DWORDS and values alone.

2. If you STOPPED at any point above, install the follow patch and see if
it addresses the problem:

What does this patch do, and can it cause any problems I'm not now
experiencing?

Hopefully, it will address your problem. No, it should not cause any problems. No, there's no KB documentation about it addressing your problem but installing it has done so for others. It's fully uninstallable if it doesn't and you don't want to keep it installed.

[To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.]

Default Missing Entries in Address Book

I just read the text for this update. It does not mention repairing any
problem with entering addresses or lost addresses. The fixes it addresses
are not problems I have. Why do you suggest it for me?

Default Missing Entries in Address Book

From another post by Bruce Hagen:
Patch KB918766:
http://tinyurl.com/mx3r2

This patch addresses some of the issues that were caused by KB911567.

Address Book problems.
Unsent templates appearing as sent.
Manually compacting will now reset the registry counter to Zero in WinXP/SP2
and also sends a copy of your dbx files to the recycle bin as a temporary
backup.

To complete the fix for .eml templates, a registry change is needed. See:

Not any longer. They were on the computer a number of months ago, and
have been removed. Is it possible there is a residual of Outlook which is
causing this problem? As I mention in a previous reply, I do not have a
separate identity for each mail account, they are both under the Main
Identity.
