problem with OE6

Everytime I open OE 6, Msft error message.
Event viewer information:
Faulting application msimn.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
comctl32.dll, version 6.0.2900.2180, fault address 0x000752b8.

OE problem is caused by Zone Alarm Internet Security 2006
and SpySweeper 5

ZAIS 2006
ZASS version 6.5.722.000
True Vector SE version 6.5.722.000
Driver Version 6.5.722.000
AV Vet engine ver 11.9.1.000, DAT file version 11.9.9945.000
AntiSpyware engine ver 5.0.10.0, DAT file version 01.200605.256
AntiSpam version 4.8.1.7217

SpySweeper 5.0.7.1608

Windows XP Pro SP2 with all critical updates
I built the system 9 aug 2006.

Problem began 24 Aug.

Cleanboot troubleshooting has pointed me to ZAIS 2006 & Spy Sweeper. With
"zlclient" enabled, OE problem is presented.

I have Spy Sweeper installed. With SS enabled, the OE problem occurs, &
Windows Media Player won't run.
With SS enabled & ZA disabled, OE & WMP will not function.
With SS & ZAIS 2006 enabled, OE & WMP won't function.
With SS disabled & ZAIS 2006 enabled OE won't run, but WMP functions.

I am using the firewall & AV & AntiSpam features of ZAIS. I am not using the
AntiSpyware feature.

Thanks for your attention to my problem.

Sincerely,
WC

Antivirus programs set to scan email in OE and antispam software do not work
well with OE, as you are finding out. These developers obviously don't test
their crappy software.

The only recourse is to remove them. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Or in most cases, just turn off the outgoing e-mail scans.

Actually, I use ZAIS & Spy Sweeper on multiple computers with OE as the email
client, & no problems.

I use ZAIS & Spy Sweeper on multiple computers with OE as the email
client.

This is the only PC that has encountered the problem. I was hoping for
advice as to how to fix OE, rather than discuss the merits and demerits
of a program.

Sincerely,
WC

[roadrunner_cm and Wiley C are the same poster]

Have you disabled the anti-virus component of ZAIS from scanning incoming and outgoing mail yet?

Just to give you my 2 cents - I also had this problem and the only way
to get it to function was to turn MailSafe off in ZoneAlarm. I know
there was an update to outlook express re-released last week and an
update to ZoneAlarm over the weekend that may or may not have anything
to do this. I'm disabling until I see another oe or update from
zonealarm.
