I apologize. URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol is listed under NONE. Now,
what do I need to do with it?
Thanx

I did not start a new thread to confuse you, especially since I'm asking
for your assistance. I posted 2 replies to the original thread and those
replies never posted.
Where is the screenshot?

No need to start a new thread. It just makes it more confusing since your
original posts and replies are not included.

I showed you a screen shot of where URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol is
located. If it is not there, which I have never seen before, your
situation well exceeds a problem with OE.

There is no listing for URL:HyperText
Even tho regsvr32 urlmon.dll said it was successful, it didn't fix the
problem. Is there a way to get URL:HyperText listed?

Apparently attachments aren't allowed in this group???

I have created a new NEWS account - msnews.microsoft.com - and hope to have
all my problems corrected. Now I just need to know what to do with that
URL:Hypertext listing under File Types.
Thank you all for your patience and assistance.

Hi, I access this news group via news.microsoft.com and have no problem
posting or viewing attachments.

Perhaps create another news account in Outlook Express using
"news.microsoft.com" server.

Thank you. I was unable to access news.microsoft.com (Page cannot be
displayed). I have added the Microsoft news server to my OE accounts, but
it appears that the Microsoft groups are the same on that server as they
are on the COX news server, so I'm not sure if I've gained anything. I
still can't include a JPG attachment, right? The URL listing under File
Types that I was told to look for is not there. I have a screenshot but
do not know how to present it to the group.

You have to access the news server via your Outlook Express news reader.

Tools | accounts | in the Accounts dialog window choose Add, on the

That is for links in e-mails or posts not working. Is this a separate
problem from not being able to insert a screen shot?

From:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut)
and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to
iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

*************************************

If you get a blank page:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message:

DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded.

4. If that doesn't fix it, see this article:

http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers/26.html

5. If you are using WinXP try this:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE...lt_Browser.reg

You can also try this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP). Choose 'Extract One File
From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP). Type oleaut32.dll, not
worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is
probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM
(typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for
WinXP) folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32
for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the
file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'.

You may need to reboot.

Being able to insert an attachment wasn't the problem; the problem was that
after I inserted the JPG, the message didn't post. Twice.

I've found the listing in File Types about URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
with a NONE. After selecting it, then advancededit, I find all the rest is
as it's supposed to be according to the web page you sent me. In the mean
time I've run 2 different virus/Trojan scans, and 4 different
spyware/malware scans. Even though nothing was found except some tracking
cookies and 38 MRUs, the links have started to work again, and the machine
is working much faster.

I want to thank you for your assistance and your patience. I'm really not
as inept as it might seem after this thread; I just made a wrong turn when
looking for that file type listing; then when my 2 posts didn't post, I was
confused.
Thank you.
