connection question on switching ID (OE6)
Since a problem with my internet access was sorted by the BT helpdesk by
correcting some of the settings, I get the message asking if I want to keep the connection open when I switch identity or log out of outlook express. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to stop this and allow me to switch between IDs without this extra step as I like to keep the broadband always on. I would rather not just go blindly in and change things in case I make a mess of it because I have no idea how the settings became incorrect before. TIA Phian |

Ensure that none of your accounts have the 'always connect using' box checked. Toolsaccountsmailselect accountpropertiesconnection tab. If they have it enabled then click the box to remove itapply/OK etc That will ensure that OE then uses any available connection. Now go to toolsoptions, On the connection tab click 'change', select 'never dial a connection'apply/OK etc HTH? -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. [DTS] |

That's a symptom of OE knowing what specific connection you are using and thinking that you are using a switched connection (e.g. dial-up). So, what is showing in Tools, Accounts under Connection in each of the tabs? If there is anything other than Any Available or Local Area Network anywhere in any of your Identities you would have your answer. TIA Phian HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |
