Also from your screen shot, "I" would set read display to zero seconds,

Didn't know zero was an option - thanks for that.

uncheck auto expand grouped messages,

Why would I do that? I like the threads expanded by default.

select 'read all in plain text.

Yes - I'd toggled that for experimental purposes (don't ask...)

Then put the 'read next' button on the toolbar.

Is that "Next Unread"?

HTH?

Thanks Steve, Frank &... Steve! Looks like it _was_ a server-side glitch (&
me being impatient! =]) I've finally 'caught-up'.

Kind regards to you all,

zar.

Default Cannot Download Last Few Messages(?)

Happens to me sometimes using the news.teranews.com news server. Some has to
do with the software running on the servers and also how they sync up.

I have a paid subcription to teranews and still sometimes can not see my own
posts. I have gotten into the habit of checking on checking on other servers
(free servers found with www.newzbot.com ). If I see the message there, at
least I know it got out. A bit annoying but I have heard from a few sources
that the usenet messaging protocol is not completely bulletproof.

This message is posted through news.microsoft.com even though teranews
offers the group. Many of the messages never show up on teranews. Always
good to know that the reality check hasn't bounced.

Sometimes there are no messages there when it says there are. You can
try
resetting the NG. Right click on the NG name in the folder list and go
to
Properties | Local file and then click on reset followed by compact.
Then
go back to the NG.

Again, already attempted. In fact, I'm now posting to this group via MS's
own web-interface as OE is not allowing me to see (now) 40 messages -
including this thread.

D'oh!

Thanks once more.

(I am, of course, attempting all known methods to 'get' these messages,
i.e.
pressing 'Get Next Headers', etc.)
