Using Win XP and a Netgear DG834 router, I have a wireless network set up
with my desktop and a laptop. All e-mail messages come to both machines, one copy each, which works fine as far as it goes. This, of course, only works for incoming messages, so "Sent" messages only appear on the machine they were sent on. I would like to get these, and others, on both machines. I know I can do a backup of Outlook Express, but would this not duplicate a lot of messages, requiring extensive deleting and editing? Regards and thanks in advance Pat Macguire |

What I would do is....on both machines, re-name your Sent Items folder to Sent Items Desktop or Laptop depending on which machine you are on. Burn this folder to a CD or other removeable media. Then on the Laptop, copy the Sent Items Desktop from the CD to your hard drive and remove the "read only" attribute. Then open OE and create a folder with the exact same name as the folder you just copied. Open this folder in OE once and close OE. (You MUST do the previous step or the instructions won't work.) Then in Windows Explorer move the folder your created to OE. It will ask if you want to overwrite, say yes. Open OE. Your sent items form the Desktop will now be on your Laptop. You can then move the mail to wherever you prefer. repeat the process for the Desktop. Hope this helps. -- Kath Adams MS MVP - Windows (Outlook Express) |

I don't think you can rename the default folders. Maybe, but I'd instead
create a folder on each machine called Xfer (or somesuch). Then copy the messages one wishes to share between machines to the Xfer folder. Then overwrite the xfer.dbx file on the machine to which one is importing and then dump those messages somewhere and then the process can be used in reverse. Its much easier however to use my OEX program which allows one to just point to the dbx file on the other machine (such as Sent Items) and then click a button to import it into the current message store. G www.oehelp.com/OEX/ That's how I get my sent items from the laptop to the desktop. steve "Kath Adams" wrote in message ... Steve, You can rename the default folders.
But I did plan to tell them about OEX and forgot to paste the link and say .... OR you can use this, which would make things much simpler! Close OE, find the folder via Windows Explorer, right click and rename
just like you would any other folder on your machine. Kath Alias~- wrote: Kath Adams wrote: Steve, You can rename the default folders. You can rename the files, sure, but within OE can you rename the folders? I
don't think so. If I right click on the deleted items folder in OE, the option to rename is greyed out, whereas that is not the case in the other user created local folders. cheers, steve "Kath Adams" wrote in message ...
