Setting Resets By Itself

Dear all.. has anyone encountered the setting of the
"Outgoing Mail Server" resets itself ?.

OUr ISP requires us to "Check" on the "My Server Requires Authentication" and
then Settings - "Check" on the "Use Same as the Incoming Server" - Apply...

But after a while, the "Check" will automatically change to "Log on Using"
setting...

Please help.

Setting Resets By Itself

Hi Philip,

This is a possibility ... the setting will cause OE to look for the
"correct" connection.

Tools, Accounts, Mail Account Properties, Connection tab
Always connect to this account using (not meant for a normal Internet
connection)

Check this setting in ALL Outlook Express mail and news accounts.

That would suggest some registry corruption. You can try creating a new
Identity and then importing your existing data.
1) You'll need to create a new identity:
How to Create and Use Identities in Outlook Express
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=209169
2) Import the old data:
http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#importOE5

Another quick and dirty option would be to fill in the same account name
and password for the SMTP Authentication as for your POP3 server. Then
it doesn't matter which option is checked. The only downside to this is
that when you change your mail server POP3 password, you'll have to
change it in both places in OE.

It also could be due to your antivirus software. Make sure email scanning
is turned off. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
