Why, when I mark READ all of the messages in a NG, does it still give me a

This can happen if your desktop icon font is set to bold. Go to: Control
Panel | Display | Appearance | Advanced. In the Item box, scroll down to Icon and click the *B* once to return the fonts to normal. Also, the font size should be set to 8. (Mine are Tahoma - 8). THIS newsgroup, for example, is one of several that are marked READ One, or several? Tools | Options | Read. Uncheck: Get XXX headers at a time. Now right click on the newsgroup name in the folder tree | Properties | Local File. Now, Reset and go to another newsgroup and then back to this one. The messages will be downloaded again. Mark them all Read and see if that fixes it. I right-clicked and chose "Catch Up" and that fixed it.
