when using "Reply to All" one contact disappears
when using "Reply to All" one contact disappears, i have a group conversation going with several people, we all reply to all, when i use this function one person (Dan) is always gone.
in my contacts i've changed his email to a different one, to see if the email address was the problem, but he still doesn't show up. i've tried deleting him from my contacts, that still doesn't work. Any ideas??? |
one thing just occurred to me, i use plaxo to sync my contacts, and when i get emails from him, his is the only email that doesn't have the plaxo icon on it, strange.

Just to clarify...
Reply to all refers to "ALL whose names appear in the received email" and not to "All in my contact list". If the others are sending you emails with everybody else's email address included except Dan's then this problem should resolve itself when you include him manually in the "To" line of a message and send it to all the others. I may be reading your post the wrong way but this is a possibility they way it is worded. You can also set up a "Group" and instead of replying simply use the group name in the "To" line to work around this if it is not the problem above. The other option is that Dan's name is included in the emails and for some reason OE just doesn't like something about it, that would be hard to diagnose without actually joining in with the group to see what might be going on. Of course wait and see, someone else here might have seen this happen and have an instant answer that I am not seeing right now. i received an email that was sent to 5 people, i hit "reply to all," 4 of the people appeared in the "to" field, leaving dan's email out.
and this isn't happenening in just one instance, any email that was sent to multiple people (including dan in the "to" field), that i hit reply to all on, leaves out dan. i've tried deleting him from contacts, changing his email address to another one he has, and i've tried changing his name in my contacts hoping that something was causing the error. i've also tried deleting him from my contacts entirely, and still it leaves him out of "reply to all" messages -hope that clarifies a bit better, thanks for responding |

Reply All takes all the e-mail addresses in the TO and CC headers of the
message you are replying to (except for your e-mail address). Look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3) to make sure that his e-mail address was there. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "tamityvillehorror" wrote in message ... when using "Reply to All" one contact disappears, i have a group conversation going with several people, we all reply to all, when i use this function one person (Dan) is always gone. in my contacts i've changed his email to a different one, to see if the email address was the problem, but he still doesn't show up. i've tried deleting him from my contacts, that still doesn't work. Thanks, I assume that Dan got the original message the same as you got it,
that would indicate that his email address was there - if he did not then Michael's suggestion will hopefully shed some light. There is a setting to "Automatically put people I reply to in my address book" and maybe you could try changing that just in case your address book is corrupt and causing the trouble. I have seen corruption where there is a malformed entry but it is not visible, so you cannot delete it you have to export, delete or preferably rename the old book and then import into a new one. My previous reply wasn't quite right (I left out the FROM).
Reply All takes the e-mail addresses in the FROM, TO and CC headers and removes your e-mail address. Note that any one who was on the BCC header, although they got the original message won't get the reply since that information is not available to recipients. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ... I'll be darned; I was all set to argue with you, but when I tested, it
worked just as you said g. I was put off it a long time ago because I always had to search for my own address and remove it. Thought I'd mention it just in case someone else has something older that includes the user in the Reply. I can't prove it; I just "know" it worked like that; once upon a timeg.
