Lost mails & failed import

All of a sudden, all emails from June 13 to October 12, 2006 disappeared
from one of my email folders. Any hints why that could have happened?

When I try to recreate the emails from the previous backup, OE is unable to
import the recreated dbx file - it tells me that there are no messages in
the folder where the dbx file is located. Why is that?

Thank you for you reply! I understand now that OE is a rather unstable email
program...

Unfortunately, none of your suggestions did really help - it was not
possible to recover the lost messages, and the backup did not contain the
lost messages either, when I finally managed to import the dbx file into OE
(they were probably lost before the backup was made).

My guess is that the dbx file may have been corrupted by Norton AntiVirus,
so I have now disabled email scanning in NAV.

But the strange thing is that only some of the messages diappeared, while
all the others remain - according to the the sites you referred to, the
whole dbx file should have been lost...

The DBX file structure is fragile.

There are utilities available for purchase to recover messages from
corrupted DBX files.

DBXtract - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx
DBXpress - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx
